House Finch: Going through changes

Like the Dark-eyed Junco juveniles, the young House Finches have their share of bad hair days.

The young male starts to develop red highlights on his chest and his crown. While he becomes more and more like his father, he reminds me of those teenage years where my brother and I would dye our hair.

The young female is not as colourful as her brother but equally cute. This one has a tuft of hair jutting up as though she is wearing a fascinator to the rooftop party.

And this one looks like she’s gotten a fluffy white dress.

“Don’t we all dread the rainy days?”
